Côte d’Ivoire and Morocco strengthen ties through royal initiatives

The Foreign Affairs Minister of Côte d’Ivoire, Kacou Adom, reaffirmed his country’s unwavering commitment to the royal initiatives aimed at advancing Africa’s development during a high-level meeting in Rabat.

«Côte d’Ivoire fully aligns with these initiatives and stands alongside Morocco to ensure their successful implementation in line with His Majesty’s vision», Kacou Adom declared following productive discussions with his Moroccan counterpart, Nasser Bourita.

Highlighting the multifaceted nature of Moroccan-Ivorian collaboration, the Ivorian diplomat noted the vital role of the Moroccan private sector. «The Moroccan business community is highly active in Côte d’Ivoire, contributing significantly to economic growth and national development», he emphasized.

Both ministers agreed to reconvene to evaluate the progress of the Economic Impetus Group, aiming to enhance its dynamism and expand its impact. Nasser Bourita, for his part, expressed deep appreciation for Côte d’Ivoire’s steadfast stance on the Moroccan Sahara.

«Côte d’Ivoire has consistently proven to be a strong ally of Morocco on this existential matter for the Kingdom», he stated, adding that the country’s position has garnered widespread recognition from His Majesty the King, the Moroccan people, and key stakeholders.

«Your nation serves not only as a strong bilateral partner but also as a leading reference in Africa», Bourita noted, underscoring the depth of the partnership.

The Moroccan Foreign Minister also highlighted Côte d’Ivoire’s pivotal role in regional initiatives, particularly the Nigeria-Morocco-Europe gas pipeline—a project of paramount importance to His Majesty the King. «This initiative is advancing toward realization, following the endorsement by ECOWAS leaders of the intergovernmental agreement establishing the pipeline», he explained.

This meeting underscored the robust political, economic, and regional ties between Rabat and Abidjan. With unwavering support for the Moroccan Sahara, robust bilateral cooperation, and active participation in royal-led African projects, Côte d’Ivoire remains one of Morocco’s most trusted partners on the continent.
