Annual ohada moot court competition and academic event in Niamey may 2026
Niger to host 2026 ohada academic conference and moot court competition in Niamey
Join legal scholars and students in Niamey this May for a landmark academic event featuring the 8th edition of the OHADA Moot Court Competition alongside a solemn academic opening ceremony.
Organized by the OHADA Club of Abdou Moumouni University of Niamey, these two days of intellectual exchange and competitive advocacy will take place on 22 and 23 May 2026 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Faculty of Legal and Political Sciences.
academic focus: the past, present and future of ohada law
The inaugural ceremony will center on the theme “OHADA Law: Past, Present and Future!”, offering a reflective examination of the evolution of uniform business law in Africa. This session will bring together practitioners, academics and policymakers to discuss the historical foundations, current relevance and future trajectory of OHADA.
moot court competition: two compelling legal debates
The competition will feature two distinct legal challenges designed to test participants’ mastery of OHADA law and their ability to articulate complex legal arguments.
- Elimination round: “Should the scope of OHADA business law be redefined?”
- Final round: “Is OHADA Law Business Law or Economic Activity Law?”
These questions reflect ongoing discussions about expanding the material scope of OHADA law and aligning it with Africa’s dynamic economic landscape and global market realities.
